American cellist and vocalist, ISABELLA THATCHER (she/her), is a Los Angeles based musician known for her solo, chamber music, and spoken word collaborations with the Malibu Friends of Music, the Montgomery Arts House for Music & Architecture, Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, Central Washington University, the Bainbridge BARN, Omaha Conservatory of Music, the Washington State Capitol Rotunda Concert Series, Ashland New Plays Festival, OSF's Black Swan Theatre, OCA's Dorothy Stolp Mainstage Theatre, and has toured extensively throughout the continental United States. Honored as Leon Mulling Scholar, Ms. Thatcher earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Performance summa cum laude from the Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University, in addition to winning the university's International Language Award. Ms. Thatcher is a frequent touring solo collaborator with internationally renowned classical guitarist, Nicholas Goluses, who has served as String Department Co-Chair at the Eastman School for many years.
Ms. Thatcher is an accomplished composer and performer for film and stage, including compositions for solo cello. Her original works have been featured in film and television, including the eleven-episode urban fantasy web series: "Burn the Witch: The Series," and the upcoming highly-anticipated theatrical short film, "Tempo Rubato." Ms. Thatcher has also brought her talents as a cellist to the theatre stage in connective presentations of the solo cello suites of J. S. Bach combined with renowned actors from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
As a part of the global streaming series, "Montgomery Arts House Presents..." Ms. Thatcher's performances have been heard by literally thousands of audience members around the world. Her 2021 performance of American composer Maria Newman's, "Six Canzonettas," was nominated by Eastman School of Music's, Nicholas Goluses, for the Pulitzer Prize in Music, as well as for the International Grawemeyer Award in Music.
Ms. Thatcher is a "Montgomery Arts House Masterworks Recordings" featured classical recording artist. Since 2019, Ashland New Plays Festival's "Play4Keeps" Podcast, (Ashland, Oregon), features Ms. Thatcher's performances of J.S. Bach's famous G Major Suite for Solo Cello as its theme music.
